When Do I Need Drug or Alcohol Rehab?
Many people who need treatment services for substance addiction are often in denial about their condition. Many do not acknowledge their problem with alcohol use or drug abuse at all and will instead tell themselves that they could stop at any time if they wanted, but they don’t want to. In some cases, they may acknowledge the problem because the substances they’ve taken have impaired them cognitively, not because they’re in denial.
Even if they do acknowledge their need for drug and alcohol treatment, they may not be able to find the help they need. It’s often up to the people around them, their friends and family, to compel them to get the help they need and to help them find a recovery programme that can help them with their recovery.
However, some people can also be aware of their need for alcohol or drug rehab without their loved ones coming together and intervening. Often, this happens when a person hits their lowest point. In a moment of clarity, a person who struggles with addiction can recognise how much of their life they’ve ceded to substances and resolve to change.
