Liberty Home’s residential treatment and residential sober living services are regulated through the Department of Social Development under the Prevention of and Treatment for Substance Abuse Act, 2008 (Act 70 of 2008).

Scope of Care and Clinical Boundaries

Liberty Home provides:

  • Residential treatment for substance use disorders
  • Residential treatment for behavioural/process addictions (where suitable for a non-acute residential setting)

  • Integrated support for non-acute mental health conditions alongside addiction treatment
  • Support for non-acute eating disorders where appropriate and within the scope of residential care
  • Step-down care through Liberty Home’s online outpatient programme, supported by the Beyond app.

Liberty Home does not provide:

  • Onsite detox
  • Acute medical care
  • Acute psychiatric hospital care

Detox and medical stabilisation are arranged through external medical partners when needed. Admission is based on assessment, risk, and suitability. Individuals who require a higher level of medical or psychiatric care may need hospital-based or specialist care before residential admission.
